S-charl to Tubre
June 28, 2008 I left S-charl at 7:25a and walked up through town on a dirt track. The track led through farmland and dairies and after several miles the road forked. I took the left hand track leading up into a small side valley and the Alpe Plazer (2091m – 6860ft) (8:20a), a small farm on the hillside. From here a trail continued across heather and boulders for several more miles of easy hiking to Cruschetta (2296m – 7533ft) (9:00a) and the Swiss/Italian border. From Cruscheeta the trail led down through several small farms to Magna Mezzo (2011m – 6598ft) (9:45a) a tidy little farm with a great water trough where I enjoyed a long drink before continuing on. From Magna Mezzo a small road took a sometimes steep route about five miles down to Tubre (1240m – 4068ft) (11:00a).

Tubre to Giogo della Stelvio
June 28, 2008 CONTINUATION I caught a bus in Tubre and rode to Munstair where I had lunch and then hired a car to drive up to Giogo della Stelvio (2758m – 9049ft) completing the north route from Sargans to Giogo della Stelvio.
