Rifugio Val Viola to Bormio and Giogo della Stelvio
July 2, 2007 Got up at 6:30a to the sound of thunder and rain at the rifugio. Clouds were hanging over the Val Viola and so I waited until 8:05a to leave for Bormio. I hiked down the road for about three hours and then it started to rain heavily. The last three hours of the hike were in a pouring rain and wind storm. I arrived in Bormio (1225m – 4019ft) (2:15p) in a driving rain. From Bormio I took a bus to Giogo della Stelvio (2758m – 9049ft) completing the southerly route from Sargans to Giogo della Stelvio.
