Alba Delba to Rifugio Contrin
July 7, 2008 We left the hotel in Alba Delba at 8:20a and after a short distance we turned right off the main road at Solagna onto Road 602 (8:35a).The first two miles ascended steeply via switchbacks to Locia de Contrin (ca. 1700m – 5577ft) (9:00a) at the entrance to the Val de Contrin. From here we followed the road up the valley, alongside the river (Ruf de Contrin), to a bridge crossing the river. From the bridge the road gradually climbed up the side of the valley to a short series of switchbacks which ended at the Rifugio Contrin (2016m – 6614ft) ( 10:05a). The Refugio Contrin is very modern and was a great place to stay before our hike through the Forcela de la Mormolada the next day.
