July 10, 2008 CONCLUSION We set out from the Rifugio Puez at 12:30p and began the rocky traverse across the rocky slabs on the trail leading to Badia Abtei. After a while the slabs gave way to a rocky descending path down through rocks and grassy meadows to the head of the steep drop off leading down to Badia Abtei. As we were just about to begin the last descent at about 2250m – 7382ft Al severely sprained his ankle (2:00p). There was nothing to do but continue on down. Al was in pain with each step but soldiered on down the steep descent into the valley below. We arrived at Badia Abtei (1324m – 4343ft) (5:00p) after a 3000 foot, three hour painful descent. We checked into the Hotel Melodia de Bosso where we stayed for two days until Al could arrange for transportation back home. A sad end to his trip.
