July 15, 2008 CONCLUSION From the Forcela Pian di Cengia the trail led along an old World War I track cut across cliffs, sometimes over suspended wooden sections, until turning and finally turning a corner and coming to the Rifugio Pian di Cengia (2528m – 8294ft) (12:45p) which was nestled in a small col along the trail. I stopped here for lunch and enjoyed the great panorama. After lunch I shouldered my pack once more and set out on the trail to the Zsigmondy Comici Hutte. The trail followed the ridge crest for some distance and then dropped down through boulders and heather to the hutte (2224m – 7297ft (2:05p). I stopped briefly for a beer and then began the descent down an unrelenting trail into the Val Fiscallina. The trail provided great views of the Croda dei Toni as it descended into the valley below. Once in the valley I followed a dirt track to the Rifugio al Fondovalle (1548m – 5078ft) (3:25p) and then another two miles to the Hotel Dolomitenhof and the end of a long day.
