Gargellen to Tubinger Hutte
July 28, 2007 We had a restful night in a good bed before getting up at 7:00a and enjoying a prolonged breakfast before starting out at 8:20a. The weather was cloudy/65 degrees with good visibility. We walked through town and started up a gently rising farm track for an hour and twenty minutes before coming to Jausenstalich Vergalda Alpe (1820m – 5971ft) (9:45a), a small dairy at the end of the track. We stopped here and had fresh milk and a coke and then continued up valley to the end and then steeply up about 500m – 1640ft to Vergaldner Joch (2515m – 8251ft). From here we traversed down slightly and over to Mittelberg Joch (2415m -7923ft) (12:10p). Once over Mittelberg Joch we descended down through high alps and across streams and boulder fields to Tubinger Hutte (2191m – 7188ft) (1:10p).
